Kirigakure:History of the Hidden Mist
---------------------------
A long time ago, The Hidden Mist Village began out of Water Country's need for a shinobi military to compete with Fire and Wind Country's shinobi programs. The Daimyo originally created and funded the Village behind the Shodai Mizukage, Kimimatsu Shibari. Matsu-Kage was a strict military leader hailing from a clan reputed for it's harsh training techniques. This was the founding for the original brutal academy graduation plan.
Time had passed and the Nidaime Mizukage had passed on with little disruption or note, except the founding of the Seven Swordsman guard unit, which was to be regarded as Kirigakure's elite combat unit. It was during this time that the Bloodlines in the Village were coming under scrutiny and prejudice.
During the reign of Sandaime Mizukage, Jushiro Katamane, a civil war broke out in Mist leading to the persecution of Bloodline Limit users who made up the main forces of the rebels. A lot of them were wiped out and by the end of the war, only a few remained. The Kaguya remained strong, and it was enough for them to be brought back into Mist and accepted as loyal allies.
There was a period of time were the Village of Hidden Mist was without a kage and was instead lead by the collective authority of the Seven Swordsmen, one of which being the late great Shark Sage; Handashi Ramamochi. It was during this time that Mist took the back burner, most of it's efforts being concentrated on rounding up Missing Shinobi and restructuring it's economy.
After this period, it is when darkness fell on Hidden Mist. The appearance of the Yondaime Mizukage was pleasant in public as a stern military leader who brought about increased trade and more missions to the Village. Kamejuro Fudo was a good guy to the people, but behind the scenes he was a puppet for a dark force that sought to take control over all of the Shinobi Villages; The Covenant.
During the collapse and fall of "The Night of the Red Mist Moon",the Mizukage was assassinated and disposed of. Riots and descendent fell into place and finally it left the Village as a strong foot-hold for Missing Shinobi and Pirates. The Mercenary foothold of the Covenant is what it has become, but there is light in the darkness as a group of survivors have begun to gather in Hidden Cloud to begin the resurgence and retaking of the homeland.
