Expected NPC Standard There is a certain level of character quality and skill of roleplay that will be expected of NPC. They are alternate extra character; given as a reward for the better roleplayers on the server. It should be noted that you are not entitled to gain an NPC if you apply for one. By applying you accept that you may be denied that character. To help with creating a character that will get approved, please follow all the standards as listed below, however, in the interest of originality and diversity, it is okay to break one or two of these rules. Conversely, the DM in charge of making sure these NPCs meet the standard may reject your NPC application for reasons beyond the application and may even deny things that fall within the standards but this should be rare. By applying for an NPC, you understand that NPCs are not as 'free' in design as PCs are and you understand that a DM will have some say in how your character operates. They may only suggest changes to be made to you, they cannot directly tell you what to feature in your character unless that is to follow the standards more closely. If your NPC is denied, you do not need to go fully back to the drawing board. You can continue to make modifications to your character until the standards and the DM are satisfied. These standards are subject to change. There may be additional rules added or removed. NPCs will be asked to change Retcon their characters within reason to meet the standards. Should Retcons prove too large or too jarring to maintain a good clarify of roleplaying then they may be ignored and allowed to go on without changes. History:
- NPCs must stay within previously established canon of Naruto and the server. They may not be related to any specified non-player NPCs or PCs unless previously approved by the person specifically.
- NPCs must have at least 1 relationship with any of the villages; be it one of the greater villages or the minor villages.. Whether that was their actions against said village or their desertion/exile from that village.
- NPCs are required to be at least mid-teens in age. This is down to their power being roughly mid-way between chuunin and genin.
- NPCs may have killed other characters in the past but must may attention to the 'validity' of these kills. An NPC killing several Jounin or even several genin before present days is rare.
Appearance:
- NPCs are required to have a 'base' appearance that will not set them apart in day to day interactions. Strange appearances, such as tails, wings, odd coloured skin, extra limbs, mutations may be kept so long as they can be hidden and otherwise kept out of sight until 'unlocked'. For example, Sakon and Ukon are rather strange by themselves but they are generally human, this is until they activate their powers and grow limbs. Permanent modifications to the body are not allowed.
- NPCs are expected to realize that they are wanted individuals and they are required to be somewhat conspicuous. This should be kept in mind when character building.
Personality:
- Whilst there is generally no limits to how your NPC is allowed to behave, there are a small number of 'requests' that should be made towards characters.
- They must be able to work as a team and have enough social prowess that they can work with other NPCs and be hired by other parties in the game world. This is to aid the NPCs in getting in events. Additionally, this does not mean that cannot be grumpy or any mix of unpleasant, so they have the ability to work as a team, even if they hate to do so.
- It is advised that NPCs also have a 'human' side, where they have some way to be reasoned or talked to by PCs. This does not mean a deep weakness or Achilles heel. Just they they are not totally a brick-wall to any nicer actions. This can be RPed away however.
Powers:
- NPCs are expected to follow the same kind of rules that PC's get power sets from.
Should there be an aspect of a character that is objectionable to the NPC DM then they are obliged to fix it on the nearest occasion. This involves discussing the problem with the owner of the NPC character and resolving it to the point that both are satisfied. An NPC player is expected to give suggestions to fix their character. If players refuse to change their characters to satisfy the NPC standards then they forfeit their NPC until the issue has been resolved. Their NPC tokens will be removed and the character will be isolated until allowed back into the game. Lost roleplay due to an NPC being removed from play should be taken as that NPC getting arrested and put into jail for an undetermined amount of time. NB: All current NPCs must follow this guideline. Those who do not, PM me and we will discuss fixing the character to satisfy both you and these standards. I understand they may rather strict compared to the free nature of the server. However, due to the power that NPCs will be getting, it is to ensure that only the best gain these rewards. If you have suggestions for standards or modifications for current standards, please PM them to me. | |
